Putting education at the forefront, Audrey (’52 BSE EDU) and Rowland McClellan established a Great People Scholarship in the School of Education.
“It was the right time to focus on a gift for education,” she said. “I was a math teacher for many years. I know there is a shortage there. I wanted to help in any way I could.” Audrey McClellan spent a good deal of her career teaching at Janesville Craig High School, and she served on the Janesville School Board. She and Rowland are long-time supporters of Badger athletics, particularly football and basketball.
“The cost of education has gone up so much,” she said. “We have a grandson in college, and the books alone are tremendously expensive. These days, considering what’s happening with the economy, it’s got to be hard for the families of many students. If we can make a UW-Madison education possible for someone, that will be great for everyone concerned.”
