Scholarships inspire tomorrow’s leaders

Academy Award-winner Walter Mirisch BA ’42 understands how a scholarship can transform students' lives and inspire them to achieve their potential. The producer of acclaimed movies such as In the Heat of the Night, West Side Story, The Apartment, and Some Like It Hot received a scholarship that made it possible for him to attend UW-Madison.

“Thanks to a non-resident legislative scholarship, I was able to attend UW-Madison, where I was fortunate enough to study with some wonderful, inspirational teachers. It was the attitude and the enthusiasm that they brought to what they were teaching that helped lift me and so many other students who were privileged enough to have been in their classes.”
